Since I first met my husband, Luke, he’s talked about starting a firewood business.

Luke has always loved cutting wood, finding relaxation in the simple, repetitive process. On childhood camping trips, he would split firewood for dozens of families.

He cuts, stores, and cares for our own wood supply, always ensuring our home is warm. He even insisted we take wedding photos in our woodshed!

In 2014, we became parents.  It changed our outlook on how we spent our time and earned a living.

As my maternity leave came to an end, we decided that I would not return to my job.  I became a work-from-home mother, caring for our little lumberjack by day and tackling consulting work by night.

And Luke became the primary bread-winner.  We knew it was the right decision for our little family.

Two months later, due to the downturn in the offshore oil industry, Luke was laid off.

We began planning. The time was right. We had to give the wood business a try.

So here we are.  A firewood family, now with three little lumberjacks!
